What It Is

A runs-based racing game set in the Outer Rim after the fall of the Empire. Racing happens in the Galactic League, an unsanctioned underground circuit that Secret Mode describes as one where “syndicates sponsor pilots, fortunes are won and lost in seconds, and only the bold survive”. [3]
Four classes of repulsorcraft are raced: landspeeders, speeder bikes, skim speeders and podracers, each with its own physics and handling. Racing is contact-based, built around takedowns rather than clean lines. [3][4]
The campaign follows Shade, a racer with a grudge against the Bool family, through the League. Runs carry progression between them, and the campaign is described as one of shifting alliances. [1][4]

Who Is Making It
Fuse Games was founded in 2023 and is based in Guildford, England. Its founder and CEO is Matt Webster, formerly general manager of Criterion Games, and most of the studio comes from Criterion, where the team worked on the Burnout and Need for Speed series. Around 75 people work at the studio, with roughly twice that involved in the game once external partners are counted. Galactic Racer is the studio’s first title. [5][6]
Three roles have been named publicly. Matt Webster is founder and CEO. Bill Lane is Game Director, overseeing the long-form systems: campaign, multiplayer and overarching gameplay. Mark Bridges is Design Director, responsible for the second-to-second experience: handling, racing, abilities, parts and upgrades, and how they interact. Both came from Criterion, where Lane worked on Burnout Paradise, Need for Speed: Hot Pursuit and Most Wanted. [9]
The team’s earlier Star Wars work at Criterion includes the Endor speeder-bike chase in Star Wars Battlefront (2015), the X-Wing VR Mission, and the Starfighter Assault mode in Star Wars Battlefront II (2017). [5]
A separate video series, Sounds of the Galactic League, began with an episode on the score. It is composed by Gordy Haab, working with Fuse Games’ Music & Narrative Director Nathaniel Daw, and the two recorded it at the Vienna Synchron Stage. [10]
Secret Mode is the publisher, an independent label whose catalogue includes Still Wakes the Deep, A Little to the Left and DEATHSPRINT 66. Galactic Racer is by some distance its largest release. [7]

Three editions are sold: Standard, Deluxe and Collector’s. See Editions and pre-order bonuses for what each one contains.
